sounding is designed, not built. Its design book holds the design whole.
Roadmap
Nothing of sounding is built yet. Each step ends with something running
on real work before the next one depends on it. A step is done when a
check passes or an observation holds. The step names are the plan’s, in
agentplot/blueprints’ design/capture/plan.md. sounding needs nothing
of millpond’s until millpond sends it questions (Q5), so its own steps
proceed beside millpond’s.
sounding’s own steps
Section titled “sounding’s own steps”-
Q1 · The statement. sounding’s statement is written from the capture design: the question and its sources, the place, the three exits, the stop check, the timebox, rounds, the operator’s decision, and what sounding never does. A fresh model reconstructs sounding from it, and the questions it asks are ruled and folded back in.
Needs the capture design’s decisions ruled (D2). Done when the reconstruction’s questions are ruled and folded in, Vale is clean, and the statement lands on blueprints’
main. -
Q2 · The repository’s rules. This repository, in Rust on kit-standard’s code profile, gains its founding decisions: one question, one session, one conclusion; plugins outside the core; a conclusion is never a signal. With them come its rules, its sluice gate,
cliff.tomland its OpenSpec configuration.Needs Q1. Done when sluice protects
mainand the first change lands through it. -
Q3 · The core and the Claude Code plugin.
sounding open,list,conclude,offer,ask,accept,go-onanddrop, with the worktree,question.md,conclusion.mdandrounds/. An offer prints capture lines with flywheel-next’s capture crate and pipes them tomillpond landwhere millpond is installed. The plugin brings/sound, the start hook, the stop check, the timebox, the MCP tools and the guard onsounding/*branches.Needs Q2. Done when a question opened with
/soundin one session ends on a conclusion in another while the first session’s work goes on undisturbed. A session that tries to stop with no conclusion is sent back, an offer’s lines pass the conformance pack, and a sluice submission from a sounding’s branch is refused. -
Q4 · The herdr plugin. The sidebar of open soundings with their rounds and states, a workspace for each, and keys to start, open, accept, send back and drop one and to open its conclusion in plannotator.
Needs Q3. Done when the plugin installs from sounding’s tag, and a sounding started, sent back once and accepted from herdr shows each state in the sidebar.
Where it meets the others
Section titled “Where it meets the others”-
Q5 · millpond sends a question to a sounding. millpond’s
sendtakes a sounding as its target. millpond opens the sounding with the item’s signals and captures as its sources, keeps the accepted conclusion as the item’s record, and makes an item of each piece of work the conclusion proposes.Needs millpond’s sends (P6) and Q3. Done when an item asking whether to take a major release goes to a sounding and its accepted conclusion shows on the item. The bump the conclusion proposes arrives as a new item, and curation answers the release’s next signal by naming the conclusion.
-
C6 · crew calls sounding. crew’s planner and design agent open a sounding for an item that asks a question, show each conclusion on crew’s rail, and turn the work an accepted one proposes into plan entries.
Needs crew’s amended record (C1), crew’s curator on millpond (C4) and Q3. Done when one real question goes from an item through a sounding to accepted plan entries on crew’s rail, with no
<kit>/elaborations/worktree made.
Flywheel follows on the same parts: once it hosts (F4 and F5), each of an intent’s elaborations runs as a sounding, and its elaboration types write the conclusion into the design book and claims.
